On June 14 and 15, the IADB Virtual Maritime Security Workshop was held, with more than 750 participants from various countries in America and the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was divided into four panels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Atlantic, with the participation of Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and a presentation on ZOPACAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Pacific, with the participation of Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caribbean and North Atlantic\/Pacific, with the participation of Mexico, the United States, Trinidad and Tobago and the CARICOM-IMPACS Agency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International experiences, with the participation of the European Union, the African Institute for Security Studies and the International Maritime Organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each country presented two main problems that affect maritime safety in its jurisdictional waters, good practices applied, suggestions and possibilities for cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The objective of the Workshop is, based on the information shared by the countries, to develop a Maritime Security Program in the IADB to improve cooperation and communication between the navies of the continent, contribute to the promotion of multilateral interests, strengthen the training of countries in the maritime field and promote the implementation of a Maritime Security Cooperation Framework in the Americas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
