{"id":37823,"date":"2023-04-26T09:27:53","date_gmt":"2023-04-26T13:27:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/opanlcom-cp6.wordpresstemporal.com\/JID\/?p=37823"},"modified":"2023-10-05T18:08:32","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T22:08:32","slug":"grupo-de-monitores-interamericanos-de-desminado-humanitario-en-colombia-apoya-certificacion-para-operaciones-de-desminado-humanitario","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jid.org\/en\/grupo-de-monitores-interamericanos-de-desminado-humanitario-en-colombia-apoya-certificacion-para-operaciones-de-desminado-humanitario\/","title":{"rendered":"Group of Inter-American Humanitarian Demining Monitors in Colombia Supports Certification for Humanitarian Demining Operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Between March 13 and April 20, 2023, the Group of Inter-American Humanitarian Demining Monitors in Colombia (GMI-CO), which represents the contribution of the Inter-American Defense Board to the quality management of clearance activities of antipersonnel mines and other explosive devices in Colombian territory, has been active in different parts of the country, supporting the Organization of American States in the certification for the operation of recently trained personnel for humanitarian demining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From March 13 to 15, the Group&#039;s officers acted in the evaluation of new operators of the civil organization <em>The Halo Trust<\/em> in Pradera, Department of Valle del Cauca, in the functions of Supervisors and Leaders of Manual Demining Technique (TDM) and Deminers. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From March 21 to 24, GMI-CO monitors formed another team that was at the facilities of the International Demining Center (CIDES), an organization of the Colombian Army in Nilo, Department of Cundinamarca. The team evaluated Colombian military personnel to serve as TDM leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, between the 12th and 14th, the GMI-CO supported the evaluation of the Demining Supervisors and Deminers of the civil organization <em>Danish Refugee Council<\/em>, in San Jos\u00e9 del Fragua, Department of Caquet\u00e1. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between April 17 and 20, GMI-CO soldiers formed teams of evaluators, who traveled to the municipalities of Cove\u00f1as, department of Sucre, and Inza, in the department of Cauca, with the objective of evaluating new demining operators. humanitarian of the Demining Battalion and Amphibious Engineers of the Colombian Navy and the civil organization <em>Humanity &amp; Inclusion, <\/em>respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The evaluations carried out in March and April made it possible to accredit 95 Colombian men and women who are now able to operate, in accordance with their new training, in areas with the presence of improvised explosive devices and personnel. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its creation in 2006, GMI-CO has actively participated in the Comprehensive Action Program against Antipersonnel Mines of the Organization of American States, supporting the efforts of Colombian authorities to reduce the effects of such devices, which have penalized the population of the country for more than five decades.
