{"id":42459,"date":"2023-07-21T10:56:14","date_gmt":"2023-07-21T14:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jid.org\/?p=38927"},"modified":"2023-07-21T10:56:14","modified_gmt":"2023-07-21T14:56:14","slug":"casa-del-soldado-recibe-visita-del-jefe-de-estado-mayor-de-la-armada-de-brasil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jid.org\/en\/casa-del-soldado-recibe-visita-del-jefe-de-estado-mayor-de-la-armada-de-brasil\/","title":{"rendered":"Casa del Soldado receives a visit from the Chief of Staff of the Brazilian Navy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On July 19, the Inter-American Defense Board (IDB) received the visit of the Chief of Staff of the Brazilian Navy, Admiral Jos\u00e9 Augusto Vieira da Cunha de Menezes, accompanied by the Naval Attach\u00e9 of Brazil in the United States of America, Rear Admiral Marcelo Reis da Silva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Received at the traditional facilities of Casa del Soldado, in Washington-DC, by Brigadier Major Fl\u00e1vio Luiz de Oliveira Pinto (Brazil), Director General of the IADB Secretariat, Admiral Cunha had the opportunity to meet, through a brief explanation, a little more about the tasks that are currently carried out within the scope of the Inter-American Defense Board, on topics such as terrorism, organized crime, natural disasters, environment, cyber defense, human rights and international humanitarian law, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In that sense, it should be noted that this issue is not new, since Admiral Cunha is proudly a former member of the House of the Soldier, where he represented Brazil well and carried out important work between 2008 and 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the visit, when addressing those present - among whom were Colonel Matthew Heim (USA), Director of the Undersecretary of Services and Advisory of the IADB, and representatives of the Brazilian Delegation at the institution -, Admiral Cunha highlighted the importance of the work carried out by the Board throughout history, always acting in favor of the cooperation and promotion of defense and security on the American continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The oldest multilateral defense organization in the world, the IADB, was created during World War II, with the initial mission of studying and proposing measures for the defense of the continent, a task that it has carried out successfully and uninterruptedly throughout throughout its more than 80 years of existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jid.org\/jid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/FOTO-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38929\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jid.org\/jid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/FOTO-2-1024x646.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38930\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jid.org\/jid\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/FOTO-3-747x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38931\"\/><\/figure>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On July 19, the Inter-American Defense Board (IDB) received the visit of the Chief of Staff of the Brazilian Navy, Admiral Jos\u00e9 Augusto Vieira da Cunha de Menezes, accompanied by the Naval Attach\u00e9 of Brazil in the United States of America, Rear Admiral Marcelo Reis da Silva.
