On July 26 and 27, the Dominican Republic held the IX edition of the INSUDE 2023 International Symposium \u201cBorder Security and Defense: Challenges and Challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Promoted by the \u201cGeneral Juan Pablo Duarte y D\u00edez\u201d Higher Defense Institute (INSUDE), an organization linked to the Ministry of Defense and made up of higher education schools, academies, technical schools and specialized military training schools that make up the Educational System of the Dominican Armed Forces, the traditional academic event had a total of 14 Conferences, developed around topics of national interest - focused on the main challenges for border security and defense in the Dominican Republic - and brought together prominent national and international intellectuals, ministers and government officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Dominican Ministry of Defense, the purpose of the Symposium is \u201cto make known to the educational community, as well as Dominican society and the international community, the work carried out by the Dominican State through its institutions, for the development and implementation of public security and defense policies, aimed at guaranteeing independence, the sovereignty of the Nation and territorial integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An important and traditional Caribbean country, the Dominican Republic is one of the founding members of the Inter-American Defense Board, the oldest multilateral defense organization in the world, founded in 1942, during World War II, with the initial mission of studying and proposing measures for the defense of the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Currently, the IADB is a member entity of the Organization of American States (OAS) and its main objective is to provide it and its member states with technical advisory and educational services on matters related to military and defense affairs in the hemisphere. in order to contribute to compliance with the OAS Charter in its four pillars: Democracy, Human Rights, Security and Development, with a main focus on the Security pillar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
