On May 3, the Inter-American Defense Board received, in the historic facilities of the Casa del Soldado, in Washington, the visit of the Commander of the Mexican Army, Division General Diplomate of the General Staff Celestino \u00c1vila Astudillo, accompanied by the Division General General Staff Aviator Pilot Miguel Eduardo Hern\u00e1ndez Vel\u00e1zquez, Military and Defense Attach\u00e9 of Mexico and Delegate to the IADB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This visit was carried out as part of General \u00c1vila's work trip to various organizations of the Northern Command of the United States of America and had the objectives of participating in the Medal Ceremony awarded to him by the IADB and learning about the various activities carried out. carried out by the Board and the Inter-American Defense College (CID), as well as areas of opportunity that allow strengthening cooperation and the working relationship between the institutions and the Mexican Army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Created in 1942, during the Third Meeting of Consultation of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the American Republics, the IADB is an organization that promotes cooperation in security and defense among the countries of the Americas, facilitating dialogue and collaboration on issues military and civil. Its mission is to provide Member States with technical advisory services through the General Secretariat, advisory services through the Council of Delegates, and educational services through the Inter-American Defense College, on issues related to military and defense matters in the Hemisphere to contribute to the fulfillment of the OAS Charter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion, General \u00c1vila was received by the President of the Council of Delegates of the IADB, General Marco Antonio \u00c1lvarez Reyes (Mexico); the Director General of the Secretariat, Major General of the Air Force Flavio Luiz de Oliveira Pinto (Brazil); the Director of the Inter-American Defense College, General Richard Heitkamp (USA); and the Vice President of the Council of Delegates, General Carlos Baz\u00e1n Barrios (Paraguay).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IADB Medal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of the IADB Medal is to exalt military virtues, as well as to reward people, organizations or institutions external to the IADB that have provided valuable services within the framework of the activities of the Board and its member countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
