{"id":44499,"date":"2024-07-09T09:06:17","date_gmt":"2024-07-09T13:06:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jid.org\/?p=44499"},"modified":"2024-07-09T09:06:19","modified_gmt":"2024-07-09T13:06:19","slug":"monitores-interamericanos-entregan-distintivos-a-militares-de-colombia-durante-acompanamiento-del-desminado-humanitario-en-antioquia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jid.org\/en\/monitores-interamericanos-entregan-distintivos-a-militares-de-colombia-durante-acompanamiento-del-desminado-humanitario-en-antioquia\/","title":{"rendered":"Inter-American Monitors Award Badges to Colombian Military during Accompaniment of Humanitarian Demining in Antioquia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From July 3 to 5, 2024, the Group of Inter-American Humanitarian Demining Monitors in Colombia (GMI-CO), a mission of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) in support of the Comprehensive Action Program against Antipersonnel Mines of the Organization of American States (AICMA -OAS), was in the department of Antioquia, accompanying operations of the Humanitarian Demining Engineer Battalion No. 7 (BIDEH-7), based in the city of Bello.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44501\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-2.jpg 800w, https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-2-16x12.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The objective of the activity was to verify the progress of operations in the area of responsibility of BIDEH-7, in addition to technical aspects regarding the approved operating procedures and the Colombian Technical Standards for said monitoring activity, in a mined area in the municipality. from San Carlos, a quality monitor and a land inspector from AICMA-OAS also participated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking advantage of the opportunity, a visit was made to the BIDEH-7 facilities, including a ceremony to present badges of IADB humanitarian demining experts to some selected military personnel, in recognition of their important contribution to the activity. Brigadier General Jorge Ricardo Hern\u00e1ndez Vargas, current Commander of the Fourth Brigade of the Colombian Army, based in Medell\u00edn, capital of the Department, was present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44502\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-3.jpg 800w, https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-3-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/jid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Foto-3-16x12.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Head of the GMI-CO, Captain (Brazilian Marine) Leonel Mariano da Silva J\u00fanior, \u201cThe performance of soldiers from the Colombian Army, here represented by those who receive the distinction of Expert in Humanitarian Demining, is a symbol \u201cIt gives professional capacity, leadership and dedication to the members of this noble institution.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2006, the GMI-CO has supported the efforts of the OAS and Colombian authorities to reduce the effects of antipersonnel mines and improvised explosive devices, which have penalized the country&#039;s population for six decades.
