On August 20, 2024, the heads of the delegations of Mexico, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic to the Inter-American Defense Board \u2013 Brigadier General Manuel Ladr\u00f3n De Guevara Job, Rear Admiral Jo\u00e3o Batista Barbosa, and Rear Admiral Franklin O. Fr\u00edas Duarte \u2013 visited the facilities of the Casa del Soldado. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, the Heads of Delegation stressed the importance of cooperation and collaboration among the Armed Forces of the Hemisphere to jointly address continental challenges. They also expressed their willingness to work actively within the Council to strengthen ties and achieve common goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IADB leadership \u2013 represented by General Marco Antonio \u00c1lvarez Reyes (Mexico), President of the Council of Delegates; Brigadier Flavio Luiz de Oliveira Pinto (Brazil), Director General; General Carlos Eduardo Barbosa da Costa (Brazil), Deputy Director of the Inter-American Defense College; and General Carlos Baz\u00e1n Barrios (Paraguay), Vice President of the Council of Delegates \u2013 presented an overview of the organization, highlighting its role in promoting cooperation and dialogue among the American states. Emphasis was placed on how the IADB works to address current hemispheric challenges, in line with the mandates of the OAS and its Democratic Charter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The multilateral nature of the IADB was reaffirmed during the recent visit of the heads of the delegations of Mexico, Brazil and the Dominican Republic. Participants agreed on the importance of regional cooperation to address common hemispheric challenges, such as cybersecurity and natural disasters. IADB leadership also provided an overview of ongoing activities and future lines of action, highlighting the role of the Inter-American Defense College in training defense professionals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
