The Inter-American Defense Board, as a guest of the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States, participated in the Eighth Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA-VIII), held on July 16 and 17 in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the event, the IADB participated in a panel titled "Cybercrime Challenges, Prosecution Capabilities, and Interoperability," where it presented its strategic approach based on international cooperation and cyber resilience. In its remarks, it emphasized the importance of building common regulatory frameworks and strengthening interoperability among civilian, military, and law enforcement actors in the hemisphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also highlighted the IADB's role in promoting regional integration through its lines of action, technical products, and activities made available to Member States to support their cybersecurity and defense capabilities. The delegation, led by General Eduardo Villegas, Vice President of the Council of Delegates, along with Colonel Mario Rivas, IADB liaison to the OAS, and Colonel Christopher Carson, Deputy Director of Studies at the Inter-American Defense College, also held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of the Interior and Police, Ms. Faride Raful, to whom the proposal to hold the Cyber Resilience Exercise, organized by the IADB, was presented in the Dominican Republic. The Minister expressed her interest and gave instructions to initiate the necessary coordination. As a sign of recognition, the IADB presented her with a plaque of appreciation for her role as host of the ministerial event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event also featured prominent participation from ministers, ambassadors, and high-ranking officials associated with public security forces.
