From August 14 to 19, 2025, Lieutenant Colonel Ariana Ayd\u00e9 Delgado Ram\u00edrez, Gender Advisor to the Secretariat of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), represented the Organization at the Peace Operations Course with a Focus on Women, held at the Center for Naval Humanitarian and Peace Operations (COpPazNav), in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this course, the Brazilian Navy trained 86 women, both civilian and military, Brazilian and foreign, as well as university students and journalists, to serve on United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions. This time, the event featured a representative from the Inter-American Defense Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participating countries as students (22): Brazil, Mexico, Honduras, Chile, Belize, Bolivia, Chile, Uruguay, Suriname, Cambodia, Sao Tome and Principe, Namibia, Cape Verde, Angola, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania, United Kingdom, Poland, Lebanon, Bangladesh and Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth highlighting the presence of the UN Military Advisor for Peace Operations, Lieutenant General Cheryl Pearce, from Australia (1), who shared her professional experiences, in addition to highlighting the importance of women in Peace Operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With these activities, the Inter-American Defense Board, as an agency of the Organization of American States, continues the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Program and reaffirms the importance of the role women play in preventing and resolving conflicts and consolidating peace, as set forth in resolution 1325 (2000).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
