On February 10, Major General C\u00e9sar Macedo Garc\u00eda, President of the Council of Delegates, and Major General Reinaldo Salgado Beato, Secretary General, paid an institutional visit to Ambassador Mayerlyn Cordero D\u00edaz, Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the Organization of American States (OAS), with the participation of Rear Admiral Franklin Fr\u00edas Duarte, Defense Attach\u00e9 of the Dominican Republic and Delegate to the IADB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, the Ambassador expressed her gratitude for the presentation of the IADB's main projects and lines of action, emphasizing the importance of strengthening multilateralism and ensuring the Dominican Republic's active participation in hemispheric initiatives. She also expressed her interest in promoting the products and tools developed by the IADB within various national institutions, with the aim of maximizing their impact and reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, he emphasized the importance of the Disaster Cooperation Mechanism (MECODE) as a key tool for disaster relief, of special interest to the Caribbean region. He also highlighted the priority the country gives to issues such as maritime security, cybersecurity, and the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda, as well as the valuable contribution of the Inter-American Defense College (CID) in strengthening the capabilities of Dominican military and police personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On behalf of the IADB, Major General C\u00e9sar Macedo Garc\u00eda, President of the Council of Delegates, and Major General Reinaldo Salgado Beato, Secretary General, presented the institutional progress and projects in areas such as disaster cooperation, maritime security, cybersecurity, humanitarian demining and human rights, also highlighting the MECODEX 2026 exercise and the Disaster Cooperation System (SICODE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rear Admiral Paulo Ozorio, Interim Director of the CID, highlighted the academic scope of the College, which currently has 65 students from 19 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
