Within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement for Training and Technical Assistance between the General Command of the Military Forces of Colombia and the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) and with the support of Brazilian instructors from the Inter-American Technical Advisory Group (GATI-CO), the closing ceremony of the National Humanitarian Demining Monitor Course 2026-I was held on March 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

This course aims to train officers and non-commissioned officers of the Military Forces as National Monitors in Humanitarian Demining, ensuring quality in the monitoring, auditing and management of demining activities in areas with the presence of explosive devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a two-month training period, five members of the National Army and two members of the Colombian Marine Corps were certified after successfully completing the aforementioned training, thus becoming new National Monitors, in charge of ensuring the quality of humanitarian demining work of the Colombian national effort against antipersonnel mines and improvised explosive devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Monitor is the highest level in the Humanitarian Demining structure, responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of work in contaminated areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With each new monitor trained by GATI-CO, the IADB continues to support the increased capacity to comply with the Ottawa Treaty to achieve total mine-free status for countries, reaffirming its commitment to peace, security and the protection of its personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
