COMMEMORATIVE ACT FOR THE 193RD ANNIVERSARY OF THE CREATION OF THE ECUADORIAN NAVY

On November 3rd, at the facilities of the Inter-American Defense Board, the Commemorative Ceremony for the 193rd Anniversary of the creation of the Ecuadorian Navy was held, and the Grand Collar of Honor for Military Merit was awarded to Captain Jorge Saldana. Captain Boris Brito, Naval Attaché of Ecuador in the USA, representing the Ecuadorian Navy, presented the medal and in his remarks affirmed that “…it is particularly significant to commemorate this anniversary within the framework of the Inter-American Defense Board, a hemispheric institution that embodies the ideal of continental cooperation and that, since 1942, has united the armed forces of the Americas under a common purpose: to strengthen collective defense, promote mutual trust and foster education and coordination on multidimensional security.”

The event was attended by the IADB leadership, Minister Mónica Sánchez, Ecuador's Representative to the OAS, Ms. Mónica Real, Counselor of the Permanent Mission of Ecuador to the OAS, Defense, Naval, and Air Attachés, the Principal Delegate of Ecuador to the IADB, the OAS-IADB-CID Liaison Officer, relatives of the award recipient, and included the participation of all officers, non-commissioned officers, and technicians accredited to the IADB.
