General Marco Antonio was born on July 16, in Rio Verde, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, he is married to Teacher María Aracely Delgado, with whom he has two children Sheyla Karina and Marco Antonio.
He entered the Heroic Military College in 1979 and graduated as Second Lieutenant of Cavalry in 1983.
He has served in the Mexican Army for more than 45 years as Commander in various Cavalry and Armored Units; in the Public Security Coordination Center as Interinstitutional Liaison; in the Fifth Section, Strategic Plans of the Joint Staff of National Defense and Liaison Officer to the Conferences of Ministers of Defense of the Americas (CMDA), Commanders of American Armies (CEA), and to the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR).
He was Head of the Intelligence and Operations areas in the state of Sinaloa; at the National Training Center (CNA), he was Head of Joint Training Plans and Programs; He also worked in the Pedagogical area of the Heroic Military College; Likewise, as Private Secretary and Chief of Assistants to the Undersecretary of National Defense.
Commander of two Armored Reconnaissance Regiments and an Armored Brigade; at the Center for Studies of the Mexican Army and Air Force, Director of the School of Human Resources Administration; He was responsible for the Transparency Unit and access to government public information; General Director of Social Communication of the Secretariat of National Defense.
He has been Commander of the 1st, 19th, and 45th Military Zones, in Mexico City, Tuxpan in northern Veracruz, and Nogales in northern Sonora, respectively, where he planned and participated in operations of Plan DN-III-E to contain the Sars Cov-2 Virus (Covid 19) and to support the population in the face of the damage caused by Hurricane Grace in August 2021, and others in compliance with the General Missions of the Mexican Army, Air Force, and National Guard.
He served as Deputy Chief of Military Doctrine of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of National Defense, having under his responsibility the aspects of Strategic Planning for National Defense; International matters; Education and Doctrine, as well as Legal Advice.
He was Deputy Military and Air Defense Attaché at the Mexican Embassy in the United States of America (USA), Delegate of the Mexican Army to the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) from 2004 to 2006.
He completed a Master's Degree in Military Administration for National Security, at the National Defense College, of the University of the Mexican Army and Air Force.
He has also carried out studies in military establishments abroad.
Advanced Combined Arms Course, at Fort Benning, Georgia, Advanced Course on Hemispheric Defense and Security at the master's level, at the Inter-American Defense College at Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington, DC, USA, Defense Planning Course and Transformation of Forces at the Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies of the National Defense University of the United States of America and participated in the Seminar "National Security and Cooperation between China and Latin American countries", at the Defense University of the People's Army of China in Beijing and Shanghai, People's Republic of China.
In national and foreign educational establishments he has participated in Peace Operations studies, in the 5th. US Army, in San Antonio, Texas and Pearson Center, for peacekeeping in Canada; Political Analysis at the Ministry of the Interior, in CDMX; He has diplomas in Strategic Skills from the Institute of Higher Studies of Monterrey, CDMX; Internal and international protection of Human Rights at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), CDMX and participated in the Seminar on “Crisis Management and Conflict Resolution” at the Peace Institute of the Organization of American States, Washington, D.C.
He has served on various commissions abroad in the following countries:
Canada, the United States of America, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Peru, Turkey and Germany, where topics of education and training for national defense and security, Cyber Defense and Cyber Security, peace operations and humanitarian aid were discussed. He also visited military doctrine, education and training facilities in Fort Polk, Louisiana, Fort Irving, California and Colorado Spring.
In Guatemala, he participated and gave lectures on “Strategic Planning for the National Defense of Mexico at the Higher Education Command of the Guatemalan Army”; he also gave the main course: “Situation of the Armed Forces and their participation in Security and Development” and “Origin and evolution of the Armed Forces” at the Anáhuac University of the State of Mexico.
He has been awarded various decorations for perseverance, including the Institutional Decoration for over 45 years of service; the Legion of Honor; and twice received the Distinguished Service Decoration; the Military Distinction awarded by the Conference of American Armies by the Mexican Army, cycle 36, and by the Brazilian Army, cycle 35, "Irmandade Dos Exércitos Americanos"; the Special Medal of the Inter-American Defense Board with Silver Star; the Military Medal "Faith in the Cause" of the Colombian Military Forces; the Brazilian Air Force Decoration "Ordem do Mérito Aeronautico ao Grau de Comendador"; and the "América Ad Humanitatem" Decoration awarded by the Inter-American Naval Conference.
