Because it is important?

Cybersecurity is a critical element of safety and security in an increasingly interconnected world. The Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) recognizes the vital importance of cybersecurity, and that is why it maintains the Cybersecurity Section as an integral part of its Technical Services Division (DST). In the current scenario, cybersecurity plays a fundamental role in safeguarding the assets, information and communication systems of the IADB member countries.

What do we do?

The IADB Cybersecurity Section has a series of crucial missions. These include the maintenance of an updated network of contacts between Member States and organizations of interest, with a focus on cyber security and defense. In addition, we share information with our members, collect and widely disseminate relevant information, promote educational and training activities, organize relevant events, and provide technical analysis.

How do we do it?

Our methods involve active collaboration with the Cybersecurity Subsection, promotion of reports and awareness campaigns, and regularly updating cybersecurity guides and training. Additionally, we are committed to maintaining an up-to-date network of cybersecurity contacts to facilitate the exchange of information.

Who do we do it with?

Our actions involve establishing close ties with the member states of the IADB, as well as with organizations such as the Inter-American Committee Against Terrorism and the Inter-American Defense Forum.

  • IADB Member States: We work closely with IADB Member States, providing technical support and sharing critical information related to cybersecurity. Our mission is to ensure that all countries in the region are well prepared to meet the challenges of cyberspace and to protect their assets and vital information.
  • Organizations of Interest: In addition to Member States, we establish strong connections with interest organizations, such as the Inter-American Committee Against Terrorism (CICTE/OAS) and the Inter-American Defense Forum. These strategic partnerships allow for the exchange of information and the alignment of efforts in promoting cybersecurity throughout the region.
  • Academic Community: We recognize the value of academic knowledge and experience in the field of cybersecurity. We maintain connections with academic institutions and research centers, encouraging collaboration in studies, research and training initiatives. This collaboration ensures that we are aligned with the latest trends and advances on the subject.
  • Specialized agencies: We seek connections with organizations specialized in cybersecurity at a global level. By actively participating in international networks, we can take advantage of best practices and lessons learned, in addition to contributing to the dissemination of information relevant to our hemisphere.
