IADB leadership participates in the South American Defense Conference. SOUTHDEC-2025.

The Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) was present at the South American Defense Conference (SOUTHDEC 2025), which took place on the days August 20 and 21, 2025 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, an event co-organized by the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) and the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Argentine Armed Forces.

During the conference, defense leaders from South American countries discussed regional security challenges, including multinational cooperation, interoperability, and responding to transnational threats. Topics also covered included maritime surveillance, maritime domain, transnational crime, cybersecurity, and threats in multi-domain environments.

The IADB leadership, Major General César Macedo Garcia, President of the Council of Delegates, and Brigadier General Reinaldo Salgado Beato, Director General of the IADB, representing the Member States of the Organization of American States, participated as observers and participants in the dialogues and strategic sessions, reinforcing the institutional commitment to the principles of collaboration, dialogue, and hemispheric security.

By actively participating in SOUTHDEC 2025, the IADB is implementing its institutional lines of action: cybersecurity, new technologies, international cooperation, and strengthening confidence-building measures and military security. This reaffirms the Board's role as a key forum for strengthening alliances and building joint capabilities that respond to the region's current challenges.
