83rd Anniversary of the Inter-American Defense Board (03/30/25)

In the framework of the 83rd Anniversary of the Inter-American Defense Board, held at the Regular Meeting of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board, the following were present: Mr. Luis Almagro Lemes, Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Her Excellency Ambassador Jacinth Henry Martin, President of the OAS Committee on Hemispheric Security and Permanent Representative of St. Kitts and Nevis to the OAS, the Leadership of the Inter-American Defense Board, Ambassadors and Delegates accredited to the Inter-American Defense Board.

During the celebration, the Secretary General of the Organization of American States stated that "The value of the Inter-American Defense Board lies in the integration of knowledge and advisory, technical, and educational services that strengthen member states to provide security to nations and their populations in the face of various threats."

The Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board reiterated that "the combination of all the capabilities and resources of the delegations accredited to the IADB, observer countries, the armed forces, defense forces, police forces, and civil society come together in the hemispheric field of action, allowing for the strengthening of regional, subregional, multilateral, and, given its geographic location, bilateral collaboration to find and achieve the best results for cohesion and trust on our continent."

The authorities attending the 83rd anniversary of the creation of the Inter-American Defense Board agreed that cooperation, collaboration, and dialogue in the Hemisphere are key to multiplying and aligning efforts to address the threats, concerns, and other challenges in the Americas contained in the Declaration of the Security of the Americas.
