On September 21, 2018, senior officials of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) received, at the Casa del Soldado facilities, Army General Décio Luís Schons, Commander of the Brazilian War College (ESG), institution dedicated to carrying out Higher Studies of Politics, Strategy and Defense. General Stephen Lacroix, in his capacity as Director General of the IADB Secretariat, and General Schons, Commander of the ESG of Brazil, signed a Memorandum of Understanding; which will allow joining efforts in the preparation of studies, scientific research and other activities, as well as the exchange of technical information on topics of interest to both parties, among other common aspects, for a period of 5 years. The signing was witnessed by General Luis Rodríguez Bucio, 
President of the Council of Delegates of the IADB; The three Generals exchanged various points of view related to issues related to the Security and Defense of the Hemisphere.
With the signing of this document, the IADB strengthens cooperation and collaboration with strategic-level educational centers specialized in the fields of defense and security, thus promoting trust and security in the hemisphere.
