Representatives of the IADB participate in the Workshop "Strategic Implications for the Women, Peace and Security Agenda."

Between April 12 and 14, soldiers from the Inter-American Defense Board participated in the workshop “Strategic Implications for the Women, Peace and Security Agenda,” held by the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, which focused in the need to develop policies aimed at the significant participation of women in security and defense activities. Participants included military personnel and civilians from 13 countries in the Americas.

Invited to the event were the Head of the Women, Peace and Security Section (MPS) of the IADB, Lieutenant Commander Taryn Senez (Brazil), and Lieutenant Commander Alexa Pereyra (Peru), Protocol Officer of the IADB, who served as a speaker within the scope of the topic "Gender Integration in the Armed Forces." Also speaking, Vice Admiral Alexandre Rabello de Faria, President of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board, spoke on the topic "Role of leadership in the Women, Peace and Security agenda."

The William J. Perry Center is a United States Department of Defense institution for defense and security studies in the Western Hemisphere. Through courses, seminars, outreach, strategic dialogue and research, the Perry Center works with senior civil and military officials in the Americas to build strong and sustainable networks of security and defense leaders and institutions.
