JID receives visit from the General Director of Nuclear and Technological Development of the Brazilian Navy

On April 17, the Inter-American Defense Board received the visit of the General Director of Nuclear and Technological Development of the Navy (DGDNTM), Fleet Admiral Petronio Augusto Siqueira de Aguiar.

Received by Vice Admiral Alexandre Rabello de Faria, President of the Council of Delegates of the IADB, during the visit, Admiral Petronio had the opportunity to learn in more detail about the activities currently carried out within the framework of the Inter-American Defense Board, to favor of the security and defense of the American continent, as well as the main tasks carried out by the members of the Brazilian Navy delegation in the “Casa del Soldado”.

Over the course of decades, the traditional presence of representatives of the Brazilian Naval Force in the IADB has contributed to facing some of the most relevant challenges faced by the member countries of the Organization of American States (OAS), in areas such as fight against terrorism and organized crime, coping with natural disasters, environment, cyber defense, human rights and international humanitarian law, among others.

The oldest multilateral defense organization in the world, the IADB, was created during World War II, with the initial mission of studying and proposing measures for the defense of the American continent, a task that it has been carrying out successfully and uninterruptedly throughout throughout its more than 80 years of existence.
