Developed in collaboration between the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) and the Armed Forces of Ecuador, the MECODEX 2023 exercise is set in a catastrophic event, with serious repercussions for the population and effects beyond the response capacity of the affected country, due to What it is requires international humanitarian support.
At MECODEX 2023, such assistance will be simulated through MECODE, a voluntary instrument for disaster response and civil and military cooperation between nations and international organizations currently developing within the IADB, which has as its basic premise respect for the sovereignty of each nation and its main objective is collaboration and greater effectiveness in humanitarian assistance actions.
The opening ceremony of the exercise was attended by Major General Luis Lara Jaramillo, Minister of National Defense of Ecuador, and Vice Admiral Alexandre Rabello de Faria, President of the Council of Delegates of the IADB.
