On October 12, during the second session of the Hemispheric Security Commission of the Organization of American States, which was chaired by Ambassador Gustavo Lino Adrianzén Olaya (Peru), President of the Commission, the Inter-American Defense Board presented its Plan Strategic Work and Activities.
The President of the Council of Delegates, General Marco Antonio Álvarez Reyes (Mexico), presented the general guidelines of the activities that the IADB will develop in the current period, with the objective of complying with the mandates and resolutions of the OAS and contributing to the fulfillment of the Charter of the Organization in its four pillars: Democracy, Human Rights, Security and Development, with main emphasis on the Security pillar.
The Director General of the IADB Secretariat, Brigadier Flavio Luiz de Oliveira Pinto (Brazil), detailed the main activities developed by the Board in the areas of technical consulting, advice and education on issues related to military and defense affairs in the Americas , with emphasis on holding seminars and establishing cooperation and exchange mechanisms in the hemisphere.
Finally, the Director of the Inter-American Defense College, Major General Richard Heitkamp (USA), presented the activities and academic program of Class 63 of the College, as well as future plans within the framework of the academic vision of the CID.
