From November 27 to December 1, the Ministry of Defense of Brazil carried out the First Binational Exercise “INTEGRATION” (1 EBI) between the Republics at the facilities of the Southern Military Command in Porto Alegre – Rio Grande do Sul – Brazil. from Brazil and Argentina. At the event, which was attended by municipal, state and federal military and civil authorities from Brazil, as well as military authorities from Argentina, the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) was represented by Peruvian Air Force Colonel Luis Alberto Arrascue Avellaneda, Advisor to the Disaster Cooperation Division and Head of the Natural Disasters and Environment Section.
The objective of the Exercise is to improve integration between the Armed Forces and the organizations of the National Civil Protection and Defense System (SINPDEC); and also improve integration between the Ministry of Defense and the Bodies that act in the Interregional Mechanisms for International Humanitarian Aid.
At the meeting, the IADB spoke about the organization and activities carried out by our institution, especially cooperation in the event of disasters, highlighting the experiences accumulated in this area and presented the lessons learned during the MECODEX-CMDA 2023 Exercise, highlighting the participation of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Ecuador in planning, organizing, carrying out and organizing the exercise, which in 2024 will be carried out in the Republic of Peru; and proposing that by 2025 this crisis simulation exercise can be carried out in Argentina or Brazil.
