On August 26, the Inter-American Defense Board received a visit from the Commander General of the Ecuadorian Navy, Admiral Miguel Córdova Chehab, accompanied by the Commander of the Coast Guard Command of the Ecuadorian Navy, Captain Boris Gustavo Rodas Cornejo, and the Delegate of the Republic of Ecuador to the IADB, Colonel Víctor Hugo Villavicencio Zavala.

During the visit, the purpose, structure, organization and activities of this Multilateral International Organization were explained, in order to comply with the Mandates established by the Organization of American States (OAS) and its Democratic Charter, emphasizing that the participation, coordination and consultative process, technical and educational collaboration of the Member States allow the IADB to successfully develop various topics of interest, such as Cooperation in Disasters, Cybersecurity, Humanitarian Demining, Migratory Flows, Arms Management, Women, Peace and Security, New Technologies and Environmental Protection, among others. The relevance of the educational context in this entire process, carried out through the Inter-American Defense College (IADC), was also highlighted.

The value of the contribution offered by the Member States to Maritime Security was also highlighted, as well as the efforts made by the IADB through the SAFE SEAS program, an application in development that will offer benefits to the Member States of the Organization. In addition, it was noted that, with the participation of military, police and civilian personnel both in the IADB and within the accredited Master's program in Inter-American Defense and Security Sciences, offered by the IADB, integration, collaboration and dialogue are fostered to face hemispheric challenges.
At the Casa del Soldado in Washington, DC, the visitors were received by General Carlos Gustavo Bazán Barrios (Paraguay), Vice President of the IADB Council of Delegates, accompanied by the Chief of External Relations of the IADB, the Director of the Undersecretariat for Advisory Services of the IADB, and the Director of the Undersecretariat for Administrative and Conference Services of the IADB.
