Participation of the IADB in the OAS Committee on Hemispheric Security

On October 3, the Inter-American Defense Board participated in a meeting of the Committee on Hemispheric Security (CSH) of the Organization of American States (OAS), held in the historic Libertador Simón Bolívar Hall of the Casa de las Américas.

At the event, the President of the Council of Delegates of the IADB, General Marco Antonio Alvarez Reyes, highlighted the work that the Inter-American Defense Board has been doing to promote cooperation in matters of security and defense among the countries of the Americas, facilitating dialogue and collaboration on military and civilian issues.

In this regard, and in line with the CSH agenda, the Colonel of the Peruvian Air Force, Luis Tolmos Valdivia, made a presentation on the current status of the Confidence and Security Building Measures (MFCS) of a military nature in the Inter-American System and the update of the electronic platform for monitoring this issue.

Likewise, Colonel Luis Alberto Arrascue Avellaneda, of the Peruvian Air Force, presented the lessons learned and good practices from the MECODEX-2024 humanitarian assistance exercise, held in Lima, Peru, in June, as well as the ongoing actions for the implementation of the Mechanism for Cooperation in Cases of Disasters (MECODE-CMDA).
