III COURSE ON APPLICABLE LAW IN SCENARIOS OF ARMED CONFLICTS AND OTHER SITUATIONS OF VIOLENCE

On March 15, the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) began the in-person phase of the “III Course on Applicable Law in Scenarios of Armed Conflict and other Situations of Violence”, in the city of Brasilia in Brazil, in coordination with the National School of Magistrates of Military Justice of the Union and the International Institute of Humanitarian Law of San Remo.

This important initiative brings together 14 representatives from 11 countries in the region, together with28 members of the Military Justice bodies of Brazilconsolidating a space for integration, dialogue and capacity building.

The course aims to help participants identify and understand the principles of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) applied to armed conflicts, as well as the fundamental role of military justice in these scenarios. It also promotes interoperability and cooperation among participating countries.

In this way, the IADB reaffirms its role as hemispheric platform for cooperation in security and defense, promoting knowledge exchange and institutional strengthening in the Americas.
