On Monday, April 13, the First Forum of Experts in Counter Drone Operations in the Republic of Ecuador was inaugurated, which will take place from April 13 to 17, 2026.
This important meeting brings together 24 expert officers from 16 member countries (Spain, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, United States, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Bolivia and the Dominican Republic), with the valuable support of the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces, in particular the Ecuadorian Air Force, responsible for the administrative support for the realization of the event.
The forum will address the growing use of drones, the risks associated with their deployment, and their impact on the transformation of airspace. It will also analyze the technologies and systems developed for their detection and neutralization, using a multi-domain operations approach that is redefining air safety.
Likewise, the ethical and legal challenges that arise in the face of these new capabilities will be discussed, promoting an exchange of knowledge aimed at strengthening regional security.
