The Inter-American Defense Board held an academic conference dedicated to analyzing the main challenges facing international security and their impact on the American continent.

The exhibitions highlighted how the international system is going through a period of profound transformation, characterized by strategic competition between major powers, the questioning of the international architecture that emerged after the Cold War, and the growing complexity of the global geopolitical environment.

The impact of hybrid threats in the Western Hemisphere was also addressed, including disinformation, cyber operations, transnational organized crime, and the growing influence of state and non-state actors in regional security matters.

Another central theme was the evolution of contemporary conflicts, marked by the use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, drones and digital capabilities, as well as by the increasingly relevant participation of the private sector in areas traditionally linked to state power.

The shared reflections agreed that the Americas are not immune to these transformations and that strengthening regional cooperation, developing strategic capabilities, and adapting to new risk scenarios will be fundamental to preserving hemispheric stability, security, and defense.
