The Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) held a high-level meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Mr. Albert Ramdin, in the Francisco de Miranda Room of the OAS headquarters in Washington, DC.

The IADB leadership was represented by Major General César Macedo García, President of the Council of Delegates; Major General Reinaldo Salgado Beato, Secretary General; and Rear Admiral Paulo Ozorio, Acting Director of the Inter-American Defense College (IADC).

During the meeting, the Secretary General of the OAS highlighted the strategic importance of the IADB's location within the Organization's facilities, which strengthens institutional coordination.

On behalf of the IADB, Major General César Macedo García thanked the Secretary General for his willingness to hold the meeting and highlighted the IADB's institutional evolution since its incorporation into the OAS's organic structure in 2006, as an advisory body on security and defense matters.

In turn, Major General Reinaldo Salgado Beato presented the main advances and lines of action of the Intergovernmental Panel on Disaster Risk Reduction (IPDR), highlighting initiatives in disaster cooperation, maritime security, cybersecurity, humanitarian demining, and the Women, Peace and Security Agenda. Among the relevant projects, he emphasized the Disaster Cooperation System (SICODE), which will be tested during the MECODEX 2026 exercise in Brazil, as well as the “Safe Seas” application, developed in cooperation with Google, both of which are available free of charge to Member States.

For his part, Rear Admiral Paulo Ozorio highlighted the role of the Inter-American Defense College as the OAS's educational center for security and defense matters, emphasizing the hemispheric nature of its master's program.
