On September 26, the Inter-American Defense Board received the visit of a delegation of students from the Higher Military Studies Course and the Comprehensive National Defense Course of the Colombian War College (ESDEG), on a study trip to Washington, D.C.
Led by Brigadier Generals Fabio Caro Cancelado and Edgar Salamanca Rodríguez, Director of the ESDEG, the delegation was made up of a total of 61 students, including civilians and military, and was also accompanied by Major General Pablo Enrique García Valencia, Delegate of the Republic of Colombia before the IADB.
Among the activities planned on the agenda, students had the opportunity to learn about the activities carried out within the Board in favor of strengthening trust and security in the American hemisphere, through a presentation on the structure , organization, operation, missions and main challenges that the institution faces in the current global scenario.
With origins dating back to 1909, the mission of the ESDEG is “to train military and civil strategic leaders, national and international, to face the challenges of National Security and Defense, through interdisciplinary education programs.”
In the historic facilities of the Casa del Soldado, the visitors were received by Brigadier General Marco Antonio Álvarez Reyes (Mexico), President of the Council of Delegates of the IADB; Brigadier Flávio Luiz de Oliveira Pinto (Brazil), Director General of the Secretariat; and Brigadier General Néstor Zalazar Echauri (Paraguay), vice president of the Council of Delegates.
