International Committee of the Red Cross visits the IADB

On April 18, Ms. Sophie Orr (United Kingdom), Regional Director for the Americas of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), accompanied by a delegation, met with representatives of the IADB. The meeting was requested by Mr. Edward Gracia (Colombia), Advisor for Inter-American Affairs of the ICRC, and its objective was to analyze the progress of the possibilities of collaboration between the institutions.

Among the main topics discussed, the status of the ICRC's application for accreditation as an observer before the IADB, which is in process, issues related to the description of the Interaction and Cooperation Framework in International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and military issues were discussed. and defense related to IHL, in addition to lessons learned and good practices, manuals, guides, directives, among others, on International Humanitarian Law.

Among other authorities, the ICRC delegation was received at the Casa del Soldado by General Carlos Bazán, vice president of the Council of Delegates, representing the president of the Council of Delegates; by Captain Luciano Moraes, representing the Director General of the Secretariat; and by Colonel Joshua Chambers, representing the Director of the Inter-American Defense College.

Also part of the ICRC delegation were Mr. Michael Pymble (Australia), Regional Delegate for Canada and the United States of America; Mrs. Marisela Silva Chau (Peru), Delegate in Haiti; and Mr. Olivier Dubois (France), Regional Delegate for Mexico and Central America.
