Brief description of the activity:
Various types of disasters constantly occur in the countries of the Hemisphere due to the combination of different reasons and anthropogenic and natural factors, such as hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, fires, among others, affecting the lives of people and their property. , so there is an urgent need to carry out search and rescue actions for people who are directly affected and trapped in the midst of dangerous circumstances at the time of the disaster and in the subsequent critical moments.
These actions must be carried out by personnel with the proper training and equipment, otherwise, the rescuers may end up becoming victims of the disaster, or it may be the case that the affected country receives groups of rescuers with different specialties and numbers. to those required and this becomes a problem, rather than a help, for the organizations responsible for coordination in specific places and situations.
That is why the purpose of this conference is to learn about and share the experiences learned in the development of search and rescue actions in cases of disasters by specialized organizations that have participated in some countries of the Hemisphere to react appropriately to this need, so that best practices and capacity development can be adopted in OAS member countries.
