On October 17, 2024, the executives of the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) visited the facilities of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), where they were received by the Vice President of the Council of Delegates, General Carlos Bazán (Paraguay).
During the visit, WHINSEC representatives had the opportunity to learn about the organization of the Inter-American Defense Board, the main lines of action adopted and the role of the IADB in promoting cooperation and dialogue among the States of the American hemisphere.

The work carried out by the IADB to address current hemispheric challenges was highlighted, in compliance with the mandates of the OAS and its Democratic Charter, in the areas of Cybersecurity and Cyberdefense, Human Rights, Women's Agenda, Peace and Security, Cooperation in Cases of Disaster, Environmental Protection, Humanitarian Demining and Maritime Security, among other specific topics.
The WHINSEC Directors agreed that cooperation, collaboration and dialogue among the Armed Forces of the Hemisphere is the key to multiplying and aligning efforts to address threats, concerns and other challenges in the American Continent.

Likewise, both institutions agreed on the importance of education, training and coaching to face challenges, as a confidence-building measure to address issues from a broad perspective and aimed at the common good in the Hemisphere.
