Today, Monday, May 19, starting at 2 p.m. Washington, D.C. time, in Georgetown, Cooperative Republic of Guyana, the IADB, in coordination with Guyana authorities, will begin the MECODEX 2025 Technical Simulation Activity, which seeks to strengthen preparedness, coordination, and joint response to large-scale natural disasters. A severe flooding scenario in Guyana has been planned for this activity, with the goal of evaluating the regional response capacity to a large-scale emergency.

During this activity, operating procedures and technological tools such as the Disaster Cooperation System (SICODE), developed by the Brazilian Army's Military Engineering Institute, which seeks to promote interoperability between national and international humanitarian assistance systems.
