MECODE-CMDA
MECODE is a humanitarian aid mechanism in case of disaster conceived by the CMDA and is being developed by the IADB as Permanent Secretariat of the Mechanism. It is based on the exchange of updated, reliable and timely information between the 34 member countries, and governmental and non-governmental Humanitarian Assistance organizations and regional and subregional civil-military cooperation systems.
The MECODE-CMDA should be a complementary and voluntary instrument to other civil and military cooperation mechanisms for assistance related to disaster response, which respects the sovereignty of each nation, with an inclusive approach to people in vulnerable situations. Its main objective is collaboration and increasing the efficiency of those involved in humanitarian aid actions.
