During the week of June 24 to 28, 2024, the fifty-fourth regular session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) and parallel activities were held in Asunción, Paraguay, with the participation of the leadership of the IADB and the liaison office for the OAS, participating in the final process of the working group together with the Commission on Hemispheric Security, for the presentation of the resolution paragraphs for the next session.
Likewise, it participated in meetings and forums of interest for the development of the objectives and work plans of the Inter-American Defense Board in its function as a technical, consultative and educational body of the OAS in matters of defense and security and sought rapprochement with countries that are not part of the Board to achieve their integration, presenting the benefits of belonging to the IADB in the work carried out in support of the Member States.
Representing the IADB at the event were General Richard Heitkamp, Director of the Inter-American Defense College, and General Carlos Bazán Barrios, Vice President of the Council of Delegates, accompanied by Colonel Claudio Alcázar, IADB Liaison Officer with the OAS.
