On November 13, 2024, senior officials of the National Police of the Dominican Republic made a formal visit to the facilities of the Inter-American Defense Board. On the occasion, they were received by Brigadier General DEM Marco Antonio Álvarez Reyes, President of the Council of Delegates, and other senior officials of the IADB.

During the visit, a detailed presentation was made on the structure and functions of the IADB, highlighting its main lines of action and the role it plays in promoting cooperation and dialogue among the States of the American Hemisphere. Key issues related to hemispheric security were discussed, highlighting the importance of the work of the IADB in areas such as initiatives to strengthen the capacity of member States to deal with cyber threats, promoting collaboration and the exchange of good practices; efforts aimed at including the gender perspective in defense and security policies; and mechanisms for coordination and response to emergencies, including humanitarian assistance and logistical support in natural disasters.

In addition, the importance of strengthening inter-institutional cooperation between the Armed Forces, Security Forces and police forces of the continent was highlighted. Participants agreed on the need to align efforts to comprehensively address the threats and challenges affecting the region, such as transnational organized crime, drug trafficking and human trafficking.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Casa del Soldado facilities, including the Flag Room, where a review was made of the history and symbolism of the flags that represent the member states of the IADB. The Dominican delegates expressed their gratitude for the reception and reiterated their commitment to continue collaborating closely with the Inter-American Defense Board in strengthening hemispheric security and defense.
