JID receives a visit from the Peruvian Army War College

On October 15, 2024, the directors and students of the Peruvian Army War College (ESGE) visited the historic facilities of the Casa del Soldado, in Washington, DC, where they were received by the Vice President of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), General Carlos Gustavo Bazán Barrios (Paraguay).

During the visit, the importance of cooperation, collaboration and dialogue among the Armed Forces of the Hemisphere to jointly address continental challenges was highlighted. The Deputy Director of the Undersecretariat for Advisory Services of the IADB, Captain Luciano Moraes (Brazil), presented an overview of the organization of the Inter-American Defense Board, highlighting its role in promoting cooperation and dialogue among the States of the American Hemisphere. Emphasis was placed on how the IADB works to address current hemispheric challenges, in compliance with the mandates of the OAS and its Democratic Charter.

The students of the Master's Degree in Strategy and Geopolitics agreed that the lines of action on which the IADB concentrates its efforts, such as Cybersecurity and Cyberdefense, the Women, Peace and Security agenda, Cooperation in Cases of Disaster, among other subjects, are important to continue encouraging the active participation of all Member States, circumstances that foster trust, security and development in the Hemisphere.

ESGE's mission is to train leaders for decision-making in complex environments in order to contribute to the fulfillment of the strategic roles of the Peruvian Army and related organizations. In its vision for the future, it aims to be a leading graduate school in Latin America for its quality education and the impact of its research on national security and defense.

The visiting delegation was made up of Major General of Artillery Luis Alberto Rojo Alzamora, Commander General of the Education and Doctrine Command of the Peruvian Army; Cavalry Brigade General Juan Kenneth Valverde Virhuez, Director of the ESGE; 02 Colonels of the ESGE academic staff; and 35 students of the Master's Degree in Strategy and Geopolitics.
