Since the inaugural session of the IADB, held on March 30, 1942, in the Hall of the Americas of the Pan American Union in Washington DC, United States (currently the OAS Main Building), the Inter-American Defense Board has maintained as the oldest military defense institution in the world, going through various events that have marked its tradition of service, such as its installation in the so-called “Pink Palace” in the month of August 1949, located on the corner of 16th streets Street and Euclid of the city of Washington DC, as well as the creation of the Inter-American Defense College, which was incorporated as an Organ of the IADB on July 9, 1964, with its facilities at Fort Lesley McNair, Washington DC, United States .
This year we commemorate the 80th anniversary, continuing with the purpose of contributing to the strengthening of cooperation, security and defense relations.
