On April 14, the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) received a visit from a delegation from the Chilean Air Warfare Academy (AGA), headed by Air Brigade General (A) Juan Ilharreguy, Head of the Education Division of the Chilean Air Force, and made up of a total of 27 Officers who were students of the Academy.
The Air War Academy is the higher education institute of the Chilean Air Force, whose task is to train and train Officers to serve as Unit Commanders and Command Advisors in institutional or joint General Staffs, through the development of teaching activities, research and extension.
Brigadier General Porfirio Fuentes Vélez (Mexico), General Director of the IADB Secretariat, presented the current structure and activities carried out by the Inter-American Defense Board, in the most varied areas such as disaster prevention, cybersecurity, demining humanitarian, environmental protection and fight against transnational crimes.
In the words of General Fuentes, visits of this type contribute greatly to strengthening relations and strengthening trust between the Armed Forces and the countries of the continent, one of the main purposes of the Inter-American Defense Board.
The oldest multilateral defense organization in the world, the IADB, is a member entity of the Organization of American States (OAS) and its main objective is to provide it and its member states with technical, consultative and educational advisory services on military matters. and defense in the hemisphere, in order to contribute to compliance with the OAS Charter in its four pillars: Democracy, Human Rights, Security and Development, with a main focus on the Security pillar.
