From April 16 to 19, the leadership of the Inter-American Defense Board participated in the Central American Security Conference 2024 (CENTSEC 2024), held in Guatemala City.
Starting from the theme “using innovation to protect borders in all areas”, the Conference addressed issues of strengthening cyber prevention and cyber defense, to face emerging regional challenges due to transnational criminal organizations and unregulated migratory flows.
On the occasion of its participation, the IADB Leadership highlighted the importance of strengthening actions aimed at strengthening trust and hemispheric security, through the exchange of lessons learned on topics such as cyber defense and cybersecurity and maritime security.
Likewise, he held bilateral meetings with Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Belize and Guatemala, in which he thanked the support of the staff that represents these important countries in the IADB, such as Delegates and Staff, and highlighted the institution's willingness to collaborate with everyone in favor of the Security and Defense of the American continent. Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama and the Dominican Republic participated in the Conference and, as observers, Canada, Colombia, the United States, France, Mexico and the Netherlands, as well as the Coordination Center for Disaster Prevention (CEPRADENAC), the Inter-American Defense Board and the Perry Center Institute.
