During the 55th Special Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), held from June 25 to 27 in Saint John's, Antigua and Barbuda, the leadership of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) (composed of Major General César Augusto Macedo, Chairman of the Council of Delegates; Major General Richard Heitkamp, Director of the Inter-American Defense College; and Major General Reinaldo Salgado, Director General of the IADB Secretariat) had an outstanding participation, consolidating the Board's position as a key technical, advisory, and educational body in the hemispheric defense and security architecture.

Throughout the session, IADB authorities held important bilateral meetings with delegations from Member States, strengthening ties of cooperation and reaffirming the Board's commitment to multidimensional security, institutional strengthening, and high-level strategic education. In his remarks, Major General Macedo emphasized that the IADB operates in strict adherence to the principles of the OAS Charter, under civilian oversight and accountability criteria. He also highlighted the value of the Inter-American Defense College as a trainer of civilian and military leaders. For his part, General Salgado reaffirmed the IADB Secretariat's commitment to responsibly fulfilling OAS mandates, while Major General Heitkamp emphasized the College's educational contribution as a space for integration and analysis of contemporary defense and security challenges.

The participation of the IADB leadership in this important hemispheric forum, attended by Colonel Luis Tolmos as OAS Liaison Officer, and Colonel Joel Diaz and Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Hickman as military advisors, not only reaffirmed its institutional relevance but also demonstrated its capacity to provide specialized technical advice to Member States, within the framework of its statutory purpose of strengthening regional cooperation mechanisms and actively contributing to peace, stability, and development in the Americas.
