Seminar on Natural Disaster Reduction

The seminar is being held at the Casa del Soldado facilities, 2600 16th Street, NW Washington, DC – 20441, with the participation of Dr. Claudia Paz y Paz Secretary of Multidimensional Security and representative of the Secretary General of the OAS and President of the Inter-American Committee on Natural Disaster Reduction”, members of the Inter-American Committee on Natural Disaster Reduction CIRDN, Representatives of the Organization of American States, Pan American Health Organization, Pan American Development Foundation, Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development, Military, Naval and Air Attachés to the different Diplomatic Missions and the Inter-American Defense Board.

PURPOSE OF THE SEMINAR:
√ Comply with the mandate established by the OAS, (AG/doc.5606/17 rev.1, date September 22, 2017, delegating to the Inter-American Defense Board, the holding of a “Workshop with simulated exercise on CIRDN procedures to address natural disasters".

√ Disseminate knowledge about the OAS interagency coordination mechanisms to facilitate the humanitarian aid response to the countries of the hemisphere in the face of the probable effects on security and development generated by disasters.

√ Improve the coordination procedures of the Inter-American Committee for Natural Disaster Reduction, to strengthen the efficiency and timeliness of humanitarian assistance in the hemisphere, which must be realistic and viable.
