From October 23 to 27, 2023, Captain (Brazilian Marine) Leonel Mariano da Silva Júnior, Head of the Inter-American Humanitarian Demining Monitor Group in Colombia (GMI-CO), mission of the Inter-American Defense Board (JID) in support of the quality management carried out by the Comprehensive Action Program against Antipersonnel Mines of the Organization of American States (OAS), participated in a workshop in Bogotá, together with the leadership of said Program, Colombian authorities and representatives of the Center Geneva International Humanitarian Demining Commission (GICHD).
On the occasion, the GICHD conducted training on the topic "Operational Data Analysis", seeking to increase the definition and use of efficiency indicators in such activity, in addition to improving the interpretation and communication of results, and also the management of operations.
Since 2006, the GMI-CO has supported the efforts of the OAS and Colombian authorities to reduce the effects of antipersonnel mines and improvised devices, which have penalized the country's population for six decades. Currently, the Group is made up of officers from the Brazilian Navy, Brazilian Army and Mexican Army.
