On Thursday, January 23 of this year, before the delegates of the member countries of the OAS Hemispheric Commission, Captain of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Juan Carlos Cruz Andrade of the Ecuadorian Navy, representing the Inter-American Defense Board and the Undersecretariat for Advisory Services (SAS), presented the progress of the permanent development of the Disaster Cooperation Mechanism (MECODE-CMDA) developed by the IADB since 2022.

MECODE is presented as a disaster cooperation mechanism, developed by the IADB at the request of the CMDA, which seeks to optimize the response and management of international resources in situations of public calamity, supporting the efforts of an affected country. On the other hand, MECODEX is an annual crisis simulation exercise designed, planned and executed by the IADB to validate the processes and subprocesses developed for MECODE. It should be noted that in 2023 and 2024 this exercise was executed in the cities of Quito-Ecuador and Lima-Peru respectively.
Finally, during the presentation, an invitation was extended to all delegations that are part of the member countries, to the contact points of the different countries, to the international organizations to be part of the MECODEX 2025 that will be held in Guyana this year.
