On March 6, 2019, the Soldier's House received a visit from Federal Judge Reis Friede, President of the Federal Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The purpose of the visit was to make a presentation on "Corruption in Brazil and its consequences for the American Continent."
Judge Friede's presentation aroused great interest among those in attendance because, in addition to launching a more in-depth vision of the issue of corruption in Brazil, it led to reflection on the implications and consequences of this type of scourge for the entire continent.
The comments made and the discussion generated highlighted the need for a joint inter-agency effort (national and international), in addition to intense cooperation between governments, also involving the private sector.
This visit is part of the IADB leadership's effort to present to the Council of Delegates, Permanent Observers and different special guests, topics of interest in the regional context as an effective way to reinforce Confidence and Security Building Measures among the countries. of the Hemisphere and highlight the civil-military interrelation on issues that impact the defense and security sectors.
