On January 22, 2025, Her Excellency Ana Irene Delgado, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Panama to the Organization of American States (OAS), visited the Casa del Soldado, headquarters of the IADB, where she was received by the President of the Council of Delegates and the Director General of the Secretariat.
The meeting began with welcoming remarks from the President of the Council of Delegates and the Director General of the IADB, who highlighted the importance of Panama's active participation in the IADB and its commitment to the principles of hemispheric cooperation. They also highlighted the multilateral nature of the organization as a key forum for dialogue and coordination on security and defense issues in the hemisphere.

During the visit, the Major of the National Police, Amarilys Rodríguez, Panama's Titular Delegate to the IADB, was formally introduced. The hosts underlined the value that the Delegate's experience and professionalism represent in strengthening cooperation relations between Panama and the other Member States.
During the meeting, the outstanding work of Panamanian personnel who have been part of the IADB was recognized, both in technical and operational areas. Their contribution to the management of hemispheric challenges was highlighted, in particular, those related to regional defense and security. Panama has established itself as a key player within the structure of the IADB, providing experience in priority areas such as public security and risk management.

During the presentation, a comprehensive overview was provided of the activities carried out by the IADB in its role as a technical, advisory and educational body of the OAS on security and defense issues. Initiatives related to strengthening cybersecurity capacities, responding to natural disasters, fighting transnational organized crime and promoting interoperability between the Armed Forces of the continent were highlighted. In addition, the educational role of the IADB through the Inter-American Defense College and its contribution to the training of strategic leaders in the region were highlighted.

As part of the protocolary activities, Her Excellency Ms. Ana Irene Delgado signed the book of distinguished visitors of the IADB, recording her visit and strengthening the ties between Panama and the Inter-American Defense Board. This symbolic act underlined the importance of cooperation between the member states.
Finally, the visit reaffirmed Panama's commitment to the principles and objectives of the OAS, consolidating its role as a strategic partner in promoting security and peace in the hemisphere.
