On June 18, 2019, a farewell ceremony was held for the Director General of the IADB Secretariat, BGen Stephen Lacroix (Canada).
In light of the above, the leadership of the Inter-American Defense Board awarded him the IADB Medal for relevant services provided to the Secretariat. The medal represents a clear expression of gratitude on the part of the Council of Delegates, the Inter-American Defense College and the IADB Secretariat, as well as recognition of his outstanding leadership, his excellent service and his invaluable contribution to the Inter-American Defense System.
In addition, the Government of Colombia awarded him the José María Córdova Grand Officer Order of Military Merit, which was presented by his Head of Delegation, Major General Jorge Enrique Maldonado Escobar, for his excellent performance as Director General and his outstanding spirit of approach. friendship and collaboration with the Colombian Military Forces.
General Lacroix expressed his gratitude for the thanks and recognition and for the continuous collaboration and support of all member states of the Inter-American Defense Board, collaborators and strategic partners during his mandate. He is confident that the excellent work done by all staff at both the IADB and the delegations will continue under the new leadership, and has made himself available as an IADB Ambassador now that he has assumed command of the 3rd Canadian Division of the Canadian Army.
