Closing Ceremony of the National Humanitarian Demining Monitors Course (CMNDH 2019/2)

With the support of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), the Group of Inter-American Technical Advisors in Colombia (GATI-CO) has completed one more Course for National Humanitarian Demining Monitors (CMNDH) for the Colombian Military Forces, an activity carried out the last day September 17.

In this 2nd course of 2019, 10 soldiers from the Colombian National Army were trained. The following guests were present at the ceremony: Head of the Comprehensive Action Program against Antipersonnel Mines (AICMA-CO), Mrs. Karen Vargas Cifuentes; Advisor to United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), Ms. Lina Maria Castillo; Humanitarian Demining Advisor of the Humanitarian Demining Brigade, Mr. Colonel João Luiz Teixeira; Defense and Army Attaché of Brazil, Mr. Colonel Hélcio Rodrigues da Silva Júnior; Head of the Inter-American Monitor Group, Mr. Captain (IM) Dalton Araujo de Barros; Director of the School of Engineers, Mr. Colonel Jose Fernedy Camero Menza; Liaison Officer to the Marine Infantry Command and Naval Intelligence Headquarters of Peru, Mr. Captain Williams F. Salcedo Bustamante; and family members of trained military personnel.

Since 2015, when it began its activities in Colombia, to date GATI-CO has trained 158 people from the Military Forces and the National Humanitarian Demining Authority, with 11 courses held.
