Within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement for Training and Technical Assistance between the General Command of the Military Forces and the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), with the support of Brazilian instructors from the Inter-American Technical Advisory Group (GATI-CO), the closing ceremony of the National Humanitarian Demining Monitor Course 2025-III was held on November 26.

This course aims to train officers and non-commissioned officers of the Military Forces as National Monitors in Humanitarian Demining, ensuring quality in the monitoring, auditing and management of demining activities in areas with the presence of explosive devices.
During a 2-month training period, Colombian military personnel were certified after successfully completing the aforementioned course, increasing the number of new National Monitors responsible for ensuring the quality of humanitarian demining work against anti-personnel mines and improvised explosive devices in Colombia.

The National Monitor is the highest level in the Humanitarian Demining structure, responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of work in contaminated areas.
With each new monitor trained by GATI-CO, the IADB continues to support the increase in the capacity of the Colombian State in the national and international effort to comply with the Ottawa Treaty and achieve the country being free of anti-personnel mines, reaffirming its commitment to peace, security and the protection of its people.
