On January 29, the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) held its first Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Delegates of the year 2019, with the purpose of receiving the visit of the Honorable Minister of Defense of Haiti, Mr. Enold Joseph. The purpose of the visit was to present to the Council of Delegates the lines of action to comply with the mandate of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).
last year (Resolution AG/2925), regarding the implementation of the “White Paper on National Security and Defense for the Sustainable Economic and Social Development of Haiti.”
In 2015, the IADB had the privilege of contributing to the preparation of this document of the highest level in the field of security and defense for the development of Haiti, which became the nineteenth country in the Hemisphere to have a document of this nature. .
Minister Joseph presented first-hand the actions that Haiti considers a priority in order to materialize the recommendations established in its White Paper that allow the Council of Delegates of the IADB, as well as all members
of this OAS Entity, focus its efforts to continue working with the purpose of helping to foster and strengthen, increasingly, hemispheric confidence and security.
With important approaches like this, the IADB reaffirms its commitment to its Member States to provide technical, consultative and educational advisory services on issues related to military and defense matters in the Hemisphere to contribute to compliance with the OAS Charter.
